Bronchoscopy

This process is done to diagnose problems in your lungs, airways, or lymph nodes in your chest. It can also be used to find an object or growth in your airways. The doctors examine the throat, larynx or lower airways. At Kokilaben Hospital, Navi Mumbai, we also have video bronchoscopy for high definition imaging. Using this we can carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures like aspiration, needle bronchoplasty, transbronchial lung biopsies, stenting, and removal of tumours and foreign bodies. We have a high-tech pulmonary laboratory to conduct tests and studies.

The two branches of bronchoscopy are conventional and interventional bronchoscopy. Conventional bronchoscopy includes brushing, bronchoalveolar lavage, endobronchial biopsy and C-arm guided transbronchial lung biopsy. Interventional bronchoscopy includes procedures such as removing foreign bodies, closing bronchopleural fistulas with glue and a device, endobronchial laser therapy for resection of endobronchial lesions, placement of endobronchial stents and widening of tracheobronchial narrowing.

We have a specialised setup for non-invasive ventilation where home oxygen therapy is provided to patients suffering from COPD, motor neuron disease, morbid obesity and interstitial lung disease.
