Involved in anaesthesia management of a breathless patient with uterine fibroid weighing 9 kg, on 23/06/10. The patient was operated in a 45o propped up position as the tumour along with displaced stomach and intestines were pressing hard on the diaphragm reducing vital capacity of the lungs and compromising respiration. The giant tumour which was causing threat to the patient’s life was removed successfully in a surgery lasting 4 hours. Times of India took notice of this and the report was published in TOI, 1/7/10 and again in Times of Navi Mumbai on 3/07/10.
